50 Police Speed Traps
Is it illegal to interfere with police speed traps?
A cop usually hangs out behind a huge sign on a hill near my house. Though I've never gotten a ticket from him, he gives multiple tickets daily. Could i get in any trouble if a held a "Warning CHP radar ahead sign" about 50 feet from where he is camping out?
So you want people to speed near your house? You are a freaking genius aren't you? I hope your child or another's child does not die because you somehow feel it is your place to interfere with police business.
Sweet Potato: So he is going to be there 24/7 holding this sign up right? Or is he only going to do it only when a police officer is there so people will slow down to avoid a ticket and speed by when they don't see some numb nut with a speed trap sign. You are naive and foolish to think this person who is interfering with an officer doing their job is actually trying to help the officer and his neighborhood by making it safe from speeders.

BTW. Who cares if speed traps are about money or not. If you are not speeding, you don't get a ticket. If you are speeding then quit whining about your ticket and slow the he** down. If the threat of paying a fine gets people to slow down then the trap works. The money is a secondary issue.

SP_025 Next Speed Trap, 50 Miles
What's your opinion of people who highbeam other drivers to warn them of speed traps?
I am one of those people who high beam others to warn them of a speed trap. Typically the traps are at the bottom of a hill, or where the speed limit changes from 60 to 50.
I understand that these fines go to the city, but it's still to me an underhanded way to catch speeders. But sometimes those I high beam still don't get it, and get caught in the trap anyways.
So what's your opinion? Especially police officers. Now, I have alot of respect for officers, in fact I work with police officers. But high beam warnings was taught to me by my driving instructor, my dad, basically anyone who had any hand in my learning to drive.
I appreciate it. And I learned the hard way years ago when I had just gotten my license. I was with my mom and neither of us knew what the high beams meant. I fell into a notorious speed trap and got my first ticket at age fifteen.
We were looking all over the car to see if they were warning us about something wrong...no my lights weren't on, etc. I laugh about it now.
I don't warn people now because I also work with cops as part of the media and people are insane, dangerous drivers now. The more of those idiots caught, the better. Though I still appreciate the heads up for myself.
