Avoiding Speed Camera Penalties
Speeding ticket help - any way I can avoid penalty?
I got a speeding ticket in the post today. It was recorded from a roadside camera. apparently I was doing 61 miles in a 50 mile zone. I cannot remember speeding or the camera lights flashing at me. I have a clean lisence. Any advice? Thanks
the electrics on my car werent working at the time so the mileage and speed displays werent showing. This is the reason I was being careful to stay below the limit during that one week the electrics were messed up. So its come as a bit of a shock but I do recognise my skills at gauging my speed may have not been so accurate. Its important to me to keep a clean licence. I have had it for 6 years now. Also, the car is a porsche so insurance is already quite expensive and it will go up for the next 3 years if I take the points. Anyone aware of any loopholes which may save me? It was a Gatso roadside camera.
I am an additional driver on the car so a total of 2 people are insured to drive it.
Avoid a speeding ticket in the UK, near impossible. Murder or rape someone while it is being filmed by a camera phone and you'll get let off and paid compensation for the trouble the courts caused you. Somehow the police believe that they are making the roads safer by catching people speeding, surely if traffic police did their job people wouldn't speed in the first place?
The only way I know to get round one is to prove their were insufficient reminder signs to show the speed limit on the road you were on but it'll cost a lot more than a £60 fine to hire the lawyers to prove this.
I suggest you accept it and then join the rest of us motorists who are heavily punished for making a mistake while tailgaters, compulsive speeders (who have devises to spot cameras) and uninsured drivers get off scott free even though they are the drivers who end up causing fatal accidents.

Avoiding driving fines and points by driving safely
There are many drivers in the UK that have some form of driving conviction against their licence, this could be from a speeding ticket or running a red light but in more serious cases there could be drivers with convictions for drink driving and texting whilst driving. The vast majority of UK motorists have not knowingly done any of these and so will have a clean licence and all the perks that come with that which could include:

Control your speed
The speed you drive at should be at or just under the speed limit of the road that you are driving on. You need to keep your wits about you as speed limits can change suddenly, quite often when speed cameras are lurking just around the corner. Don’t feel it’s ok to increase your speed when the roads are quiet as that isn’t an excuse. Another point to remember with speed limits is that you should make sure you are not driving too slowly; this could be just as dangerous as speeding under certain circumstances as other motorists may struggle to gauge your movements which could lead to some sort of accident.
Be aware of the road
When learning to drive we are encouraged to use our mirrors and to signal well before we change lanes or make a turning. After passing their driving tests many drivers forget this advice and develop bad habits over time and from other drivers. You need to make sure that you remain fully aware of your surroundings because if a car suddenly stopped in front of you, you would need to react quickly in order to avoid running into the back of them.
