Question concerning CB Radios with NOAA?
I've been shopping around for a cb radio to put in my Jeep Wrangler and have come across something that is a bit misleading to me. I want to get a cb with the NOAA weather channels. When I see models with this feature they are listed as "40 channels, 10 NOAA weather channels" Does this mean that there are 40 channels for regular use, plus an additional 10 weather channels? Or does this mean that 10 of those 40 channels happen to be weather channels? Also, I do a lot of driving with the top down on the Jeep and I'm afraid that the radio will be ruined if it begins to rain while I have the top down. Unfortunately my mounting locations are limited to over-head on the roll-bar or on top of the dash. Are there any CB's out there that are water proof or that you know will hold up well in this type of situation? I don't want to get a marine radio since I'm told that they operate on an entirely different frequency band. Thanks for any help!
40 plus 10 weather channels. You can buy a radio case with a cover in a marine store.

That means you have 40 CB channels for regular use plus the 10 weather channels. Of the 10 weather channels, only 7 are in active use in the US. It is also worth mentioning that you have to switch between CB and weather. You can't use both at the same time. There are no waterproof radios on the market.
