Band Radar Detector Anyone heard of a radar detector tester?
I saw it online and now i cant find it,
its like $30
and it sends out a laser/k/x/KA band to check to make sure your radar detector is working properly

Yes, there is such a thing. There is a commercial unit sold in Europe and Africa for several hundred dollars called the Target RLT-500 that covers most radar/laser bands(European brand name of Bel is Target). Have occassionally seen knock-offs of this from China. There also was a unit called a Highway Zapper that put out a weak X band radar signal only (kit sold by Electronic Rainbow and others) with a plan set in the Feb 1990 issue of radio electronics and the 1992 Electronics Experimentors Handbook. The FCC issued a cease and desist order to stop production of these units...I assume Canada also has similar laws banning these devices (for reasons of interference and public safety because some people will play "trawling for tail-lights" games in traffic trying to trip people's radar detectors and could cause accidents). There is a legal laser only tester that Radarbusters.com was selling until recently that will only trip the laser section for I think $30 or $40; don't know if they will restock or not. Another possibility is purchasing an older tested radar gun or sports radar gun on ebay that matches the frequency of the radar detector you are trying to test. Or you can build or buy a legal microwave frequency generator similar to what a technician would use to test and repair broken radar detectors. Good luck!

x band shows full on radar detector?
At a light, my radar detector shows full x band. It only happens at this one light where there are cameras. I am not sure what they monitor, i think just the traffic to witness acidents. My friends valentine does the same thing. My detector is a beltronics. I am not sure why it does this and was wonderig if anyone knows/or has expereanced the same problem.
There is an X-band radar gun on the stop light to see if there is a car waiting for the light. They have it in a town new me and my V1 and V995 have gone full x-band.
It's another way to regulate traffic lights other than weight sensors
