Band Radar
Do you know about Radar Transponder? Can you give some details about L and S band Radar Transponders?
Are you asking about aviation transponders, or satellite transponders?
The L and S BANDS are used for satellite and radar uses.
All Aviation Transponders work on 1030 and 1090mhz. (which does fall in the L Band range) There are different MODES of operation of these transponders including Mode C and Mode S but all are on the same frequency. The Modes are not referring to the frequency used but the type of transmitted data on that frequency.

ADD- Aviation transponder Mode C, Mode A, Mode S etc. does not change the Band used.

The L band refers to the frequency range of 950Mhz to 2Ghz (which the aviation transponders work within)
The S band refers to frequency range of 2 to 4 Ghz. (No aviation transponders are used in that range)
Both the L Band and S band are used for TV Satellites as well.
There are thousands of frequencies used within these ranges, including Wifi for your computer.
Think of BANDS as ranges of frequencies used. For instance the HF Bands are 3-30 Mhz and include 80meter band, the 40 meter band, up to the 10meter band (the meters are the length of the waves being used)
VHF bands 30-300MhZ includes the FM radio ranges as well as Aviation radio communitcations the 2 Meter ham band.
UHF 300-3000Mhz which includes the L band (30-15cm waves) and the "lower half of the S band (15-7.5cm waves)
SHF 3-30GHZ which includes the upper portion of the S band
