Belt Keepers Keeper
Temp to perm position. How do i achieve it?
I'm currently in a temp position for someone on maternity leave. I've eased into the job very quickly, very easily with very little training time and mistakes under my belt. The position is the EA to the VP of Operations for a VERY LARGE technology firm!!!!! (position was to be for 14 weeks including 6 weeks maternity leave is almost up, leaving 2 weeks left) and even though I've gotten hints that they want me to stay, there have been no offers (the hints are "you're a keeper", "no, promises, but I'd love to keep you on permantly", "you can't take her, she's ours") I've asked the placement agency to find out for me, but everyone is dancing around the issue. Do I just be direct and ask or do I just hold my breath until it happens/doesn't happen. I want to control my destiny here, but I don't want to be too aggressive about it (could turn them off) I REALLY want to stay here. Help!!!!
Several things must come together before this acquisition may take place. Both of these companies have conflicts regarding your services and this may leave you up in the air. Even if most of the principals are assuming you will be hired, it only takes one disinterested party to delay it or prevent it altogether.
You need to be direct, but in a different direction. Telephone your placement desk to ensure they are working on a new assignment. You don't want to be caught waiting along with everyone else.
In the meantime, because there are only two weeks left, you could ask for a "Satisfactory Service Recommendation" for your personal files. Your supervisor may not be aware of the time frame and may not be involved if they are considering you for another department. Don't let them believe you are willing to accept just anything they offer.

OMG, why is it that people can not use proper grammar? Anyway, if things are working out, let it go. If you like him and it seems like he is sincere about being with you and your child. Even though you have been hurt in the past, you can not blame him for what others have done, as far as not giving him a chance and always looking into it as if he has a motive for being good to you. You're going to have to learn to let your guard down a little if not you will keep yourself from truly being happy!!
