Cap Glass

If you want to unscrew a metal screw cap that is stuck on a glass jar...?
If you want to unscrew a metal screw cap that is stuck on a glass jar, should u hold the container under hot or cold water? and why?
Hot water won't contract the glass, the metal just expands a lot more than the glass when it is warmed.

Flaccid Ego: Psychic Reading Call-in Show
I may hav glass in my knee cap. Should I get it removed or let my body adapt to it? I dance. Am worried. 7days?
It is a shard of glass if still there? Could be just a deep cut? Saw doc and he said he could take it out if it becomes infected. Because I am a dancer, I am worried to let it go? I was going to see a sports med doc if it doesn't get better in a few days. Could be too soon? Maybe the body just grows around it? Anyway, it hurts when I walk a lot or after practice. What should I do? Let it be or get my knee cut open for something that may not even be in there?
Ultrasound, MRI, and possibly CT scan or MRA are all viable ways of show where the glass is obstructing. However this seems unlikely, and you don't seem to mention where you might have gotten this glass fragment. It really would be highly unlikely a shard somehow penetrated a wound which managed not to get infected to the point of requiring your immediate attention. Could you please update us with any possibilities of trauma you may have suffered? A fall, a sprain, vehicle accident, a dance move gone wrong (in all seriousness)? This could also be a degeneration or injury due to repetitive exertion on that knee from dancing. If so you will need to quit dancing for awhile and both treat and rehab it before you start again unless you want to deal with a much worse injury down the road. How soon is anyone's guess.
Its more likely that you are suffering from one of the following:
● A ligament injury, ACL/PCL injury would be pain inside the knee, LCL/MCL would be pain on the sides
● A tendon injury, Tendinitis, inflamed patellar tendon
● A meniscus injury
● Injury to or degeneration of the articular cartilage of the knee
● An injury resulting in a piece of cartilage breaking off and floating into a joint space within the knee, known as a loose body
● A hyperextended knee, resulting in a strain or tear to the associated muscles, ligaments, and/or tendons
● Patella (knee cap) fracture
● Bursitis
● Osgood-Schlatter disease
● Iliotibial band syndrome
● Rheumatoid Arthritis or Osteoarthritis, though unlikely
● Gout and pseudogout, with lack of redness very unlikely
These can all be effectively treated and restore you to a near if not 100% pain free status. In the meantime you should take it as easy as possible, elevate your knee in bed with a pillow, apply ice to reduce any possible swelling (like after practice) and seriously consider entirely abstaining from dance practice until you have a real diagnosis! I suggest you IMMEDIATELY get proper imaging of your affected knee before you do anything, specifically an MRI which will shed light on the status of your ligaments and tendons or see another doctor. Suggesting knee surgery before an MRI or CT scan is lunacy. An X-ray will only identify any degeneration or injury to your surrounding bone, be it the patella (knee cap), femur, tibia, or fibula--though a thorough exam would include this to rule out a stress or hairline fracture. A CT scan could help diagnose a foreign body (like glass) or loose cartilage like an MRI as well. If it is a foreign body or loose cartilage you absolutely need it removed surgically. Please follow up with imaging as soon as possible. Good luck!
