What does it mean when a diagnostic computer cannot read my car's computer when hooked up?
My friend who is a great mechanic tried to read the codes for my car but his device could not read the car' computer.
I was curious of any old codes on the computer. My engine light is not on but it does test itself and turn off when I start the car. Should I even be worried to fix the connection problem or wait until my check engine light comes on?
So then I guess he isn't that good of a mechanic if you're asking us instead of him.

Do I still need to pay the auto shop for the diagnostic even if they said they couldn't duplicate the problem?
i agree with the guy w 25 years in. to add, they need to pay for all of the equipment and the overhead for the shop. of course, not all of it at one shot, but definitely your money helpd keep the lights on. a lot of people dont think about things like that when they say they are overcharged. i have seen electric company bills, for example, in a 6 bay shop run upwards of 1000 a month and higher, not to mention most shops dont outright own the equipment they use, its either on a note or leased. So, there you go. please pay your garage bill, we appreciate it as professionals.
think about it.. who doesnt have a messed up PC from “personalizing” it.. and these fags didnt test the thing out!!
