Is the power steering pump affect the power of the car?
my car chevrolet optra 1.6 has a squeeking sound at power steering pump. Does it has effect on the car power?
Chewbaka has a good point, but electric power steering puts more load on the battery and therefore the alternator has to charge more to keep up, and guess where the alternator gets its power from.
Electric ps is good for long straight roads where the pump doesn't do much but round town there is very little difference in emissions, and you are more likely to need to replace battery and alternators more often.

What are some non-expensive ways to add power to my car?
I understand that it DOES take money to get a car all powered up, but im looking for ways that do not burn my wallet such as $300 parts would. Any simple suggestions or good part stores? If it needs to be specific, i have a 05 neon sxt. i care less for racing, but you know as well as i do how fun it is to have a car with a bit more power than it had originally. That and i understand most add ons save me some gas too!
Find a cold air intake for you car.
Couple that with a low back pressure muffler and you should feel about 8-10 more ponies.
Buy a bottle of injector cleaner that lists NAPTHA on the label and run that with a half tank of gas to be certain the injectors are clean.
