When I am the Co-Applicant on a credit card...?
My husband and I opened a Menard's account 10 months ago and maxed it out with some home improvements. We paid it off in less than a year.
He is the main applicant and I was the co-applicant. This still is a positive with my credit right?
I wasn't quite sure how that worked...
You are co-applicants, that means you are joint.
On your report it will show as joint applicant.
The activity on the card will afffect you and him equally.
Authorized user is different.
It only affects the score of the main user.
The authorized persons score is not affected.
FICO changed the law a couple of years back - since people were making others authorized users to improve their score.

Am I responsible for my deceased husband's credit card debt if he forged my name as a co applicant?
as it stands, and as far as the credit card compnay is concerned, u are the co-applicant and therefore responsible for the debt.
the only way u may get away with the responsibility is for you to report that to the police, and prove that the signature on the credit card was not yours, and you only found it out lately, not for months and years without saying anything.
