Case Black Dress
Are black BM dresses universal across designers?
I'm going to let me BM's pick a cute cocktail length black BM dress (or one that can be altered to be cocktail length). I'm wondering if black is black no matter what brand, or if the black color tends to vary between brands? If that's the case I don't want a bunch of different shades on the day of.
My current favorite designers are Alfred Angelo and Mori Lee, but tonight my MOH said that she and another BM were talking about going to David's Bridal to try on their black dresses.
Should I restrict the BM's to a certain brand or a couple of brands, or just let them pick from whatever designer as long as it is black?
I think you should be more worried about fabric rather than brands - even if you restrict them to one designer, it's not likely he or she has used the same fabric to make every black dress design. Some fabrics can be quite shiny (satin, silk), while others might be matte. The color itself could be really deep looking or almost faded.
You might want to pick out a common fabric and then ask them to use that as a guide. If you wanted to, you could even go to a fabric store and then send them out shopping with a swatch. Or you could just let the first dress purchased set the tone for the rest of your BMs. Hope that helps.
