What does an internal drive chain in a 99 Cavalier do?
My transmission has not been acting funny or anything in my car. But today I went to go somewhere in my car and it wouldnt move at all. It would let me change gears but it wouldnt go into the gears. It wouldnt even try. It wouldnt do anything. But it starts up and runs fine. It just wont go anywhere or even try to.
But anyway I talked to someone at AutoZone about this and they said the internal drive chain could have went out. Does this sound right to you?
It's possible.That chain connects the transmission to the differential in an automatic or manual transaxle.
If that is all that's wrong with it's probably kind of good. It should be able to fixed rather then pay for a whole rebuilt one.
Your best bet is taking it to a reputable transmission repair shop. Just check the yellow pages for your area.

Yes, there is a drive chain inside the transmission in a front wheel drive car. It's not exactly like I described, as I described it it would equate to a drive shaft in a rear wheel drive car as it is a means to transfer power from one part of the drive train to the other. It really enables the entire geartrain to be folded underneath so only the bell housing and torque converter is above, mounted to the motor.

Another possible thing that could have happened is the torque converter itself, or the pump, could have failed , and not necessarily smoked the clutches in the transmission so it could possibly be fixed without a complete rebuild.
That sucks about your Cavy, I'd imagine most places would probably con you into a paying for a rebuilt, even if it could be fixed easily fixed.

What is the long chain attached to some of my sea monkeys?
Some of my sea monkeys have something like a chain of tiny units attached to them. One of them has a really long chain. I thought it could be eggs, but supposedly sea monkey eggs are carrying like a pouch near the stomach - not a in a chain attached to the sea monkey. I couldn't find anything easily / immediately on google about it. What are these chains?
