Something that pisses me off, what about you?
So I went out and bought a brand new cobra 12 band radar/laser detector for 90$. I plug it in and like it from what I can tell until i get home and research it. Everyone hates cobra radar detectors and say they suck. Im pissed cause what I have every everyone has to one up me and say what i have sucks.

does a radar detector detect from the rear of the unit or its only from the front. the radar guns not laser?
i was wondering that if a radar detector is able to detect from the rear of the car if theres a police unit coming from the back fo the car. i know that it dectects the laser 360 but my question is on the radar guns. thanks for the info i have a cobra 9430
Most radar detectors have 1 radar detection antennae near the front of the radar detector. These radar detectors can detect radar from various directions, but alert sooner to radar from the front, where the antenna is. One notable exception is the Valentine 1 radar detector, which has 2 antennae, one facing forward and one facing backward. In nearly every test conducted by Speed Measurement Labs and Tiger Lily Products, the Valentine One radar detector detected radar from the rear of the vehicle before every other competitor.
While most radar detectors can detect police laser, detecting police laser is useless. The only way to detect the laser is if it is pointed at your vehicle, and by then it's too late. Police laser guns take less than 2 tenths of a second (.2 seconds) to read your speed. That's not nearly enough time for you to react to a laser alert and adjust your speed if necessary. The only protection against police laser is a laser jammer, which jams the laser gun speed reading, allowing you time to check your speed before turning the jammer off. If you want true 360 degree radar and laser protection, there are a number of integrated systems on the market that provide 360 degree radar detection and laser jamming.
While the Cobra 9430 is a respectable device, it has relatively weak detection of radar from the rear. And, as noted, laser detection is pointless without a laser jammer.
