Why can't I mute my mic on xbox live?
So first i had the mic that comes free with the xbox, and sometimes when i played Bioshock 2 multiplayer the audio thingy comes up and indicates that im talking when im not. And it's not that i don't know how to mute the headset. I do mute it, and then when im firing a gun or a plasmid, or my character is screaming from being on fire or something, the game thinks that im talking. So the speaker thing comes up on the screen.
Then i bought a new headset (tritton). And the same thing happens, even in mw2. I always have to go to the menu to mute the headset, which is kinda annoying, I would just like to use the mute button on the cord to turn the mic off and on.
So can I fix this somehow?
And please don't say that i should just buy a new headset.
try turning off vibrations off your CONTROLLER see if it still happens if it dose try a different CONTROLLER

Target Return Policy for Skullcandy Lowrider Xbox 360 Headphones/Headset?
Hi,
Today I bought some Headphones from Target. It is the Xbox 360 Skullcandy Lowrider Headphones. I'm disappointed with this product. The sound quality is poor. Very often I have trouble hearing my friends in the game chat because the game sound plays in the same volume and earpiece as the chat, so the volume of the game always seems to overpower my friends voice's. There is no mute button. And there is so many cords that you need to plug in to make it work properly. But my purpose is not to rant, I just want to know if Target will take it back, I have all the original parts and even the box it came in. Plus the receipt. It would be a shame if I couldn't return it, I paid $80. Thanks 
Yes, it should be fine to return them provided you have everything (which you do). Return it sooner than later though because time is a factor in these things... or it is at my store anyway.
