Cord Mute
I am trying to hook up a magnavox 15mf/20fm series lcd tv to my pc:?
The video works but the built in speakers will not work, nothing is muted, I have the correct cord connecting the sound output to the tv... a little help would be appreciated.
If the "correct" cord happens to be a HDMI cord then you have to go to Control Panel, Sound, and configure your sound to HDMI. If your PC doesn't have the HDMI option it won't work until it does.
You will need to ask for computer help for that one.

speaking without vocal cords
Up-stroke palm muting?
Does anyone else get a slightly different sound with the up-stroke when palm muting while alternate picking. It's espcially evident when I palm mute power cords but can also be heard with single notes. Is there any way to get my up-strokes and down-strokes to sound the same?
No, you'll always get a different sound from a palm muted upstroke on a guitar, especially when playing chords since you'll always hit the higher note first on the up stroke. The reason for this is, the pick angle is a bit different on the upstroke, and produces a slightly "twangy" sound in comparison with the downstroke.
You can even the sound between the two pick strokes somewhat by only playing with the very tip, and hitting the string as flush as possible with the same pressure. The mechanics the human hand will always prevent you, however, from getting an exact sound from both the downstroke and the upstroke. There will always be some element of rotation causing differences in sound, no matter your picking style: finger pivot, wrist pivot, or elbow pivot.
You can use a palm muted up stroke to your advantage. Dimebag Darrell was a master at using this technique to create some seriously wicked tones. The Pantera song "5 Minutes Alone" has a lot of alternate picked palm mutes in it, and there's nothing weak about that tune.
