Detector Audio
Help with Windows Media Player 11, .avi files?
I am unable to play .avi video files in WMP 11. The error message that displays online suggests that I need an audio codec, however, I have never had any problems with audio for any type of file before. I downloaded the GSpot codec detector and according to it, it is an Xvid codec, which I do have installed. However, if I try to render the file using GSpot, the rendering fails and I receive the exact same error code that I get when I try to play the file in WMP (80040241). However, the files will play in Microsoft Media Player (Start--Run--mplayer32.exe). I have been everywhere on Microsoft's online troubleshooting pages without any luck at all. I can usually figure out any computer problems that come up, but this one has me stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
