Detector Coiled hi i am making a cellular phone detector and i need to have a sensor coil?
the problem is i dont know how to make a coil cuz it is not available in the market can any body tell me how to make a sensor coil of 150 turns of 0.2 mm. enameled wire on a 5 cm diameter.
I think you have almost answered your own question here
Find a round former of 5 Cm to wind your Wire onto ( A cardboard core from a Toilet Paper roll will be pretty close to 5 Cm's ! )
Tightly Wind 150 Turns of the 0.2mm Wire side by side onto the core & secure the ends & centre of the winding with Candle wax or similar and then you have your coil.
Don't forget to remove the enamelling off the 2 Ends of the coil otherwise you wont have any continuity. ( The enamel can be removed off the wire by LIGHTLY dragging a pair of Sidecutters along the wire or you can use fine sandpaper to remove the enamel )

here is a link to a metal detecting forum. Depending on how the coil is in the frame (if it's molded etc) you may be able to make a mandrel and match turns, wire size etc but there might be other considerations such as tuning it to your control box. These guys/gals should know
