Is this for a motorcycle or car? Motorcycle? After you decide the detector thing. You should probably consider investing some money in a good helmet, really good padding, kevlar bodysuit, bodybag. On second thought, scratch the helmet. I had a friend that was doing a 140 on his motorcycle, when he hit a bump in the road. Not much left of him. They did find his helmet, with head inside 130 ft. from the body parts, which were strewn randomly all over the pavement. Car? If you hit a tree or telephone pole doing 140, attempting to outrun the cops, you will probably become a tree-hugger for eternity. Just a thought. Also buy a cemetary plot, write a will, buy life insurance. And kiss your a** goodbye!!!!!

Is it illegal to have radar detector or laser one in florida ?
I am thinking of buying one so wanting to know before i get a ticket or fine
Radar detectors and laser jammers are LEGAL to use in Florida.
If you decide to purchase a radar detector, don't waste money on a cheap one! As an alternative to buying a cheap radar detector, I would seriously consider just never driving fast. The cheaper the radar detector, the fewer features it has, the fewer radar bands it detects, the less likely it is to detect those bands, the more often you will receive false alerts, and the more visible it is to police radar detector detectors (RDD). If you use a cheap radar detector, you are likely to 1. not receive an alarm when you should, 2. receive false alarms when you shouldn't, and 3. receive a ticket and have the device confiscated (in nearby states where it is illegal).
If you are concerned about police laser as well as radar, you'll need a laser jammer. The best radar detectors also detect laser, but the laser only has to hit your vehicle for 0.2 seconds to read your speed; not nearly enough time to adjust if your laser alarm alerts. If you want the best of both, radar detection and laser jamming, there are a lot of great integrated radar detector/laser jammer combo systems available. The best is probably the Escort Passport 9500ci, which includes an excellent radar detector plus the new Escort ZR4 Laser Jammer. (See sources for links.)
