Choosing compound microscope for A-level Biology?
I have just started doing my A-levels through a distance learning college, and need a compound microscope for some practical work.
I am obviously not looking for something majorly expensive, but also don't want to buy something just to realise afterwards that it's not good enough.
I have found the one below, which seems reasonably priced. Could someone please advise whether this should be ok.

I had seen some of USB digital Microscope Camera, but none of them can support so high level magnification. Can I believe this item that is from http://www.etronixmart.com/? At $35, you must realize that you are getting a GADGET and not a true piece of precision optical equipment. If you look at the specs, 1600x1200 is the max resolution of a 1.3MP sensor. That's a little better than a cell phone camera sensor. I think that you will get 400x magnification at 160x120 resolution. Your only light source is 4 LED's powered by the USB port of your computer. That's not a lot of light
What you are getting is a web cam version of a microscope.
Compare a web cam to a DSLR or even a $150 point and shoot camera. They are different things for different purposes.
Is it worth $35? I would say yes. Is it going to be the digital version of a laboratory microscope like they use on CSI? I doubt it.
