Why does my SIRIUS satellite radio sound so bad?
Overall I am quite satisfied with my SIRIUS radio. I have recently upgraded from the FM transmitter option to the hard-wired direct option. This was good because it cut out the FM interference. However, it still sounds thin and compressed. It doesn't sound near as good as my local FM stations or my CDs. I know FM stations use aural exciters and special effects units to enhance the sound so I can understand why the FM stations sound better. But I thought the SIRIUS would sound at least as good as my CDs. After all, digital is digital, right? It just sounds so compressed (not dynamic) and thin (not rich and full). What gives?
Your problem may not be as simple as one item in particular. I think it may sound "not good" because of a couple variables combining to create poor dynamics.
#1.The Sirius system is not as audibly "good" as XM. They chose to go the cheaper route when they started up. They have limited "bandwith??" to carry the audio signal. Sirius compresses the music more in order to keep cost down.
#2. You referred to using an FM transmitter, so I am going to assume you have a small plug-n-play receiver. Those receivers have small and cheap D/A converters (digital to analog). With a cheap D/A converter, the digital part of the sirius signal is not being interpreted as well as could be with good equipment. All digital audio must converted to analog in order to hear the audio correctly. There is no such thing as an all digital system.
The combination of the limited Sirius signal and your inadequate receiver are most likely degrading the audio to an unacceptable level.

The Black Box Revelation - High On A Wire
To transfer contents to a new comp. from old comp. What's the easiest way, (software?), can a direct wired?
connection work to transfer data? Also, need to move data from a hard disk salvaged from a comp that was ruined in a fire, is there a way to do this without having to install the drive in the old comp.? Any help will be greatly appreciated!
I would remove the hard drive from the damaged computer .change your jumper on the hard drive and connect to a different computer that's your easiest way
the rule of thumb used to be that small rooms shouldn't be painted dark colour, that is no longer true. I have a very small room and I painted it navy blue it looks great. Go with the colour you love and I might suggest that you use white with a semi gloss for the trim and doors. Paint your ceiling a white and that will make the room appear bigger.
