Dual Battery Charger
My computer is refusing to start up, when I press the power button, (from a powered down phase)?
ok, the weird thing here is that it will turn on for approx. 1-2 seconds, then shut down again, then turn back on for approx. 1-2 seconds, then shut down again. repeat to infinite. It work last night, at around midnight, but started this problem this morning, at about 9AM
My computers specs are: HP Pavillion Dv6700 entertainment PC
Nvidia 7150 Graphics card
AMD Athalon 64X2 Dual core Processor.
I have no peripherals plugged in and there is a DVD in the drive.
(M*A*S*H season 1 disk 1)
I have tried turning it on with the battery and charger, and with/without them in various combinations. I have also given it time to sit and charge, in case this was a battery failure, but this has not worked either.
please try to avoid suggesting things like getting a new computer or sending it away to be fixed, I am looking for something I could do myself and will only use those as a last resort.
There are a couple of problems that can cause this issue. The problem that you have is that your computer will not POST (Power On Self Test). Have you made any changes to your system BIOS recently? Another issue that can cause this problem is a system fail safe that shuts the PC off if the temperature gets too high. If you leave the computer sit for a couple of hours to cool down and it still will not POST, then this is not the issue. If you are able to load your BIOS settings screen ( usually by pressing 'DEL' or F2 or F12 during boot up, then try resetting all of your bios settings to the default values and see if you can get the PC to POST. Charge car battery while connected?
My 2007 Suburban often spends all day at events where the constant opening and closing of the power hatch, running of inside lights, and running of the on-board computer kills the battery. If I remember to start it every few hours and run it for a bit them I'm fine, but this is a pain and when I forget then I need a jump.
I thought about various dual battery schemes, but would still be limited to what two batteries can supply.
So, I will buy a Honda eu1000i generator to power all of my other equipment and a battery charger or maintainer to keep the 'burb happy. But do I have to care which battery charger/maintainer I use? Some of them only deliver 1 amp which may not be enough to keep the 'burb charged - others may deliver too much or may get their internal charging algorithms confused by the fact that I am also discharging the battery at the same time? Not sure how to do this exactly, please advise.
