Duty Belt Safariland
Anybody have any reccommendations for leather duty gear?
I'm looking to replace my nylon duty belt with a leather set, but there are so many options out there, I don't know what to choose. I'm leaning toward either the Safariland leather set or the Bianchi Sam Browne belt. Any suggestions, pointers, or opinions would be helpful.
Leather duty gear is a waste of money. It stretches, stains, and gets damaged in inclement weather. Stick to nylon.

When buying a Police duty belt....?
Actually this is two questions in one: First, when buying a duty belt, does you use your pant size or do you go slightly bigger? Second what is a good brand? (I cannot spend TONS of money yet, I am just starting off) I have heard of Galls and Safariland and I am just wondering which would be better....
It depends on what your department requires. If you are allowed nylon they are in expensive and hold up well. Likely you need leather, clarino, natural or basket weave. Please make sure you know before you buy. Your equipment belt and of course the stuff on it is very important.
Boston and the Galls house brand are inexpensive. They are also just fine.
Is your belt the Sam Browne type, will it have a regular buckle or the prong type buckle?
Regular buckle get the correct size, prong type go slightly bigger.
Remember you are wearing an under belt and a duty belt. Figure out what you are going to have to carry and how. Put the stuff on the belt, even if it is just demo equipment, and try it on. Most uniform stores have the set up approved by your academy or department all ready for testing.
If you are not getting guidance in the academy or from your department I suggest you look up Hindi systems. Hindi, he's a police officer, has developed a good system for equipments carry that seems to work very well and at least gives you a starting point.
