Early Warning Does anybody know early warning signs of parkinsons disease?
Every once in a while I will be trying to fall asleep and all of a sudden my body jerks, almost like i was just struck by lightning, this does not happen every night, but every so often, can anybody tell me what this is, and if so, is it connected to parkinsons?
I really hope not because this happens to me from time to time.
It's called a hypnagogic myoclonic twitch or a hypnic jerk. It can be caused by not getting enough sleep. Tremors and muscle-locking would be more symptomatic of Parkinson's disease.

Early Warning for geologic disasters became a subject of intensive research when observational and communication options allowed for dense sensor installation and real-time dissemination of signals and information. How long does a typical early warning proceed a tornado?
The average lead time for tornado warnings is 11 minutes. (see first link)
In September 20, 2002, a tornado traveled through Indiana with an average lead time on the day's warnings for Indianapolis was 24 minutes. Some warnings had over half an hour of lead time. The worst tornado of the day touched down near Ellettsville in Monroe county, and tracked approximately 112 miles through Martinsville, Greenwood, Indianapolis, Anderson, and Alexandria, reaching an estimated maximum path width of 250 yards. At this time, this is now believed to be one tornado, making this the second longest tornado track in state history. This tornado was rated F3. The damage towards the end of the afternoon was rated no higher than F1. (see second link)
The benefit that we had here in Anderson (which was near the end of the tornado's path as shown on the last link) was the amateur radio reports that we monitored from the beginning of the event. We started plotting the reports and realized the current path was going to pass right over the city if it continued to hold together.
