Equipment Supplies Notebook
Waterproof Notebook?
On our dairy farm our employees are requred to write down problems that they have with cow health, equipment, etc. This notepad is kept in our milking parlor on a cart. The cart, however, routinely gets covered in water, urine, and manure, thus making the pad extremely wet and soggy. We need a solution to have a place for them to write down that stays readable but convienent for them to write. We tried putting a plastic zip-loc bag around the pad but it still managed to get wet. There are glass doors on both ends of the building and no available wall space that wouldn't be accessable to cows. The parlor cart is 4 feet long by 3 feet high and has two shelves. We keep other milking supplies on it such as gloves, oxytocin, spare inflations, that sort of stuff. Any solutions would be helpful.
They make waterproof notebooks and paper, intended for surveyors and others who need to make notes in the field.The brand is 'Rite in the Rain'. If you have a store around that sells supplies for surveyors, try there, or you can get them on-line.

HP 530 Notebook PC
I have a HP G7000 notebook which i want to start using wirelessly but don't know which is my best option ?
This is my first laptop.I currently use Talk Talk as my broadband supplier & am using a standard modem that they sent me, as i used to have a desktop computer before.
Iam just so confused with all the gadgets that are out there now & dont want to be ripped off by either a computer shop or Talk Talk.
What i want to know is what equipment do i need in order to use my laptop wirelessly both at home or if iam travelling.
At present i have a red ethernet cable & an AC adapter lead plugged into the laptop.
I dont know whether my broadband supplier would supply me with a wireless modem in place of the standard modem they provided me with,or whether i have to purchase one myself.
I have heard of these USB connectors & also some card that slots in, its just getting me all frustrated.
Iam just wanting to know which is the most straightforward thing i need.
The laptop has a Wireless button (WLAN supported).

I live in the UK btw.
Your laptop has a WiFi radio transmitter / receiver built-in (GeekSpeak: 802.11B / G).
So, all you need is a wireless router (See the link below), to connect to your TalkTalk modem. This sends and receives radio signals to and from your laptop, so you can surf the web.
This router is not a USB device, USB Wifi adapters are a different device, and that may be what is confusing you.
If you're Canadian, I recommend the D-Link WBR-1310, available from The Source, Staples and Future Shop. It was on sale last week for $40. Just plug it in and you're connected. Then, read the router manual to learn how to turn on "WPA Encryption".
For more info, talk to D-Link, there won't be any sales pressure.
