Escort Passport Radar Should I buy a new or used radar detector?
I am interested in buying a radar detector for my car. I have been looking at the Escort Passport 8500 x50. It has gotten good reviews so I have pretty much decided that I am going to buy it. I can get one used for about $210. New ones on ebay that might not be new but they say they are are $249. From other places they are around $300. I want to know if radar detectors sort of last forever and dont really get problems, or that buying it used might be a bad idea because I might have trouble with it. Please let me know.

I have never heard of them wearing out or developing problems. But think about things that could effect their life-sun, water damage etc. If you don't know yet, you should probably check to see if it's legal to have one in your vehicle in the state you live in. If not, I wouldn't spend a whole lot on one just to have it confiscated if you DO happen to get pulled over (they're never 100% accurate).
