Fire Jotter
can the police arrest you for lighting a bonfire?
i am hoping to have a fire at the end of the year where my friends and i can burn all of our old school jotters. there is an over grown field nearby that feel would be ideal. would i be arrested for starting a fire here? and where would i be able to have a fire legally? i live in scotland if that makes any difference.
It depends. First you need to contact your local agency and see about the local laws on bon fires. Second you need permission from the local fire marshall or department. Third you probably need permission of the owner of the property where you are burning. If it is dry grass do you have resources to control the fire and put the fire out.
