Gear Badge
ive bought a bmw 325i convertible, im not sure if it is a alpina as its got the badge on the bonnet, the gear?
knob and the alloys, but on the log book it does not state that its an alpina. could it be badged up.
If it is a 325i then its definitely not Alpina. As the first thing Alpina does when you give them your car, is to change the engine. I think they have 2 different engines for that series. (i think a 2.8 straight 6 and a V8) Therefore, when the car leaves the Alpina factory it'll lose the original "name" (e.g BMW 325i as the number here indicates the series and the engine's size), and will be changed for a "B" series. (e.g Alpina B9)
Check the following: If your car is a genuine Alpina, it will have a black panel in the roof just in front of the rearview mirror, with the genuine Alpina serial number engraved into it. (all Alpina cars are numbered as they only do them on order)
Also, on your registration documents it should say Alpina, not BMW.
