GPS Speed Camera Database
GPS Speed Limit Alarm?
I know that there are little GPS devices, which warn you if you are approaching a fixed speed camera. Some can calculate your speed and only do so if you are over the limit. However, these can't "detect" mobile cameras and the camera location database needs constant updating.
Is there a simple GPS device, which is programmed with the speed limit of the roads, and can also calculate your speed, and can therefore simply warn you when you are near or exceed the speed limit of the road you are on?
I take the point about the speedometer. However, a little box that bleeps when you go over the limit would enable you to keep your eyes on the road, not the dial.
As far as I know, some TomTom GPS has this feature. Mine does. It knows what the posted road speeed is based on location and beeps if it goes over the speed limit. You visual (flashing banner)as well as audible warning on the GPS. I don't use the feature regularly because I can "feel" how fast I am going because I know my car. I also occasioanally glance at my speedometer and use cruise control when possible. I will add that due to construction and chanes in traffic pattern TomTom is not responsible for errors you may get in regards to speed warnings.
